Just a bit more than 500 meters behind the hotel you can enter the popular bike route called RurUfer-Radweg - the point, where you leave the trail in order to come to the hotel or where you can acces the route when coming from the hotel, is the bridge on the top side of the "Josef-Vosen Park", a park named after a long-time mayor and in the mean-time honorary citizen of the city Duren.
On the other side of the hotel, but also nearby, you can find a nice sandy beach lake named Dürener Badesee; this lake has a professional wakeboarding device and when coming though the entrance door, you will chill over in a vaction mood quite fast, which is the reason for the lake's nickname "Dürener Adria". Furthermore, this area has been developped to a really great event location: once a year a concert of a popular German band or artist like Culcha Candela or Wincent Weiss is taking place, fans of electronic music can party on the "Nibirii-festival" and even local singers being well-known from the Cologne carnival visit the lake every now and then to present their repertoire. Sportive events like the wakeboarding championship or the dragon boat races are as well part of the acitivities at the lake. If you are sportive, but not in the mood for cycling or swimming - the RurUfer bike trail and the way around the lake is perfect for some running workout....
By taking the car, it is only a few minutes to reach the Annakirmes-place, where once a year one of the largest fun fairs of North Rhine-Westphalia is taking place, to the Arena Kreis Düren, the city center with pedestrian area, market place and the Leopold-Hösch-Museum, or by taking another direction to Schloss Merode, a today privately owned water-surrounded castle from the 12th century.
